After the hiatus in public events caused by the restrictions imposed in response to the pandemic, the most eagerly awaited event by Ibiza and Formentera’s professionals in the world of catering is set to return. So, from 11 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. on 11 March 2022, the Agroturismo Atzaró Hotel & Spa’s idyllic gardens will be the scene of ‘We are FaceFood Ibiza 2022’, an unmissable gastronomic event for professionals working in the sector. Designed and organised by FacefoodMagazine, sponsored by Estrella Damm, and co-sponsored by Balfegó y Moët Hennessy, the event is taking place for the fourth time. Now an established tradition for hospitality and catering professionals in the Pityusic Islands, it is regarded as the starting signal for the new season.

A very full programme

This fourth edition, we highlight the collaboration of the Consell d'Eivissa, which is committed to the promotion and positioning of gastronomy and Ibizan products within the national and international gastronomic map.

This year the poster for the event organised by FacefoodMag promises much, given that the chefs who have been invited and already confirmed their attendance collectively hold nine Michelin Stars and fourteen Repsol Guide Suns. Thus, WAFF22 Ibiza will feature, among others, Eduard Xatruch (Disfrutar**), Nandu Jubany (Can Jubany*), Nino Di Costanzo (Danì Maison**, Ischia – Italia; It Milano*, Italia), Álvaro Sanz (Es Tragón*), and Óscar Molina (La Gaia*). Also appearing will be one of Spain’s most prominent chefs, the Mallorcan Maca de Castro (Maca de Castro *, Mallorca) who can not only boast of having a Star in the Red Guide, but who has also been awarded a Green Star by Michelin for her sustainable practices. Her presence in this year’s event will revolve around the importance of the “farm to fork” movement as a crucial factor in sustainable cooking.

We Are FaceFood Ibiza 2022 promises to be a day full of activities and surprises for all who attend, given that it already offers a full programme featuring workshops, demonstrations and presentations by chefs, entrepreneurs and experts in the world of gastronomy. In addition, as with previous editions of We Are FaceFood, numerous haute cuisine brands will this year exhibit their finest products on the wooden stands dotted around the gardens of the Agroturismo Atzaró Hotel & Spa.

The event will take place on 11 March 2022, at the premises of Agroturismo Atzaró Hotel & Spa

As a forum for professionals in both the catering and tourism industries, the event will be packed with learning opportunities, and punctuated by presentations by the various guest chefs, along with presentations from two renowned professionals working in the sector: Susana Nieto, a specialist adviser in gastronomy, Esteban Capdevila, an expert in gastronomic marketing and Amagoia Eizaguirre, a coach specializing in habits and an expert communicator and trainer. On the other hand, the brands Gin Mare with Salmon Guru and Vermouth Dos Déus will also be present as speakers. Moreover, at midday, there will be a showcooking by Balfegó to give both public and participants the opportunity to network over a relaxed lunchbreak, with live music provided by the popular local group ” Swingin Tonic and The Blue Kids”.

The hospitality sector’s finest

As in previous years, WAFF22 Ibiza will have an area devoted to the hotel and catering sector’s most exclusive brands. This year too, Estrella Damm will be present as the event’s official sponsor. A spectacular showcooking feature will be directed by Balfegó, co-sponsor of WAFF22, in which the chefs Óscar Molina, Antonio D´Angelo and Ekaitz Apraiz will prepare various dishes in which the main ingredient will be what many regard as the finest tuna in the world. Möet Hennessy, producer of some of the world’s most exclusive alcoholic drinks, and another of the luxury brands co-sponsoring the event, has also confirmed its attendance.

Ibiza’s producers will be represented by Es Mercat Eivissenc (Sabors d’Eivissa), with a recreation of a market selling the island’s products: olive oil, nuts, honey, cold meats, vegetables, etc.

Confidence in a return to “normality”

The gastronomy magazine’s director, Jesús Trujillo, expressed great optimism that this year will finally see the start of a return to the long-awaited normality so desperately needed by the hotel, restaurant and catering sector. He went on to say that this year, Ibiza and Formentera’s producers, restaurateurs and chefs would play a crucial role in We Are FaceFood Ibiza, and revealed that prestigious chefs from Spain and across the world had confirmed their attendance. Trujillo emphasised that “the great reception that has greeted We Are FaceFood Ibiza arises from the very philosophy that inspired FacefoodMagazine, which is purely and simply an interest in casting a spotlight on the people behind every gastronomic project”.
