Redivins: the ambassador for French wine in Mallorca

Redivins: the ambassador for French wine in Mallorca

Carlos, Pedro and Anabel

Redivins has an impressive 35-year history and today is a benchmark for wine enthusiasts in Mallorca. Operating as a distribution company and wine shop, Redivins was founded using three key ingredients: passion, tradition, and innovation. And innovation is particularly relevant right now because last year Redivins opened a new wine shop that specialises in French wine: it is a little slice of France in the heart of the Mediterranean, where customers are enticed by the flavours of the finest wines from Spain’s neighbour.

Founded in 1987 by Jacques Noris, an ingenious Frenchman who was passionate about wine and Mallorca, Redivins was created to be a bridge between venerated wineries in Spain and France, and dining tables in Mallorca. Since it began, Redivins has established itself as a visionary company. Noris spotted the need to expand the range of locally available wine with top end labels. Over time, Redivins became the agent for Ballande et Méneret, one of the leading wine merchants in the emblematic Bordeaux wine-making region. Redivins’ catalogue now features around a thousand products and is a treasure trove that includes award-winning wines from around the world. Becoming the agent for Ballande et Méneret was just the first step on an adventure that would make Redivins synonymous with quality and tradition in Mallorca.

Under the leadership of Joan Mut, who took over from his friend Jacques Noris in 2017, Redivins has succeeded in keeping Noris’ legacy alive and building on it. Last year saw an important milestone in the company’s history when it opened a new shop that specialises in French wine, a special tribute to its founder’s roots. Mut, who shares a lifetime spent in the wine world with Noris, states: “We’re hugely fortunate to have formed such good relationships with some of the best wineries in France and around the world, and to be able to distribute their wine here.”

The shop is the only one on the island that specialises in the finest French wine, and it particularly focuses on wine from Bordeaux, a region that has shaped international tastes and set quality standards that are currently a benchmark in the industry.

As Joan Mut, the current owner of Redivins, explains: “the fame and quality of French wine are no coincidence; they’re the result of a long history, and being pioneers around the world in the art of winemaking.” And there is no doubt that French wine has totally revolutionised the wine world, wielding significant influence over the wine production of other countries, including Spain.

Redivins’ relationship with prestigious wineries such as Olivier Leflaive, Faiveley and Pol Roger is not solely based on business, it is the result of a shared philosophy and values. Its ability to buy wine En Primeur (when it is still in barrels and has not yet been released on the market) ensures that it can purchase large batches from many of the most exclusive wineries in the world. And this is just one advantage that the distribution company enjoys thanks to its 35-year history of building solid relationships in the sector. Each winery selected by Redivins has its own story, a tale that is entwined with the evolution of wine around the world. The new specialist shop by Redivins is a space where you can discover and savour these stories, understand the importance of each terroir, and appreciate the craftsmanship behind each label.

Training and personalisation: the true keys to success

Redivins is more than just a shop or wine distribution warehouse, it has become a centre of knowledge for enthusiasts of wine-making culture on the island. Its service is characterised by being fully personalised, and its team appreciates how to adapt its huge list of products to the culinary aims of each customer. Training at Redivins is also a key part of its mission, and it means that its complex catalogue is accessible and adapted to the taste and needs of each restaurant, or each wine enthusiast.

Today, Redivins’ influence goes far beyond sales; it has become an institution that educates, inspires, and brings the spirit of the world’s most distinguished wineries to Mallorca. When a customer enters Redivins, they discover much more than a wine shop; they set off on a journey through the history and flavours that have made French wine, and particularly wine from Bordeaux, a liquid legend that continues to win over the most discerning experts.
