In some places time does not pass, it transforms. In Puerto de Pollensa, Gran Café 1919 has been part of the landscape and memory for a quarter of a century. Today, this legendary Mallorcan bistro celebrates its history looking to the future with a new and updated menu shining a spotlight on produce, wine and good times spent with others, without losing sight of its true essence.
Located on one of the seaside promenade’s most iconic corners, where you can breathe in the salty air and the spirit of Anglada Camarasa can still be felt, Gran Café 1919 does not seek to impress but to remain in the memory. Every dish, every glass and every gesture have something familiar about it, from the produce to the warmth and unpretentious service. The corner bistro in Puerto de Pollensa continues to focus on what really matters: the pleasure of eating well and feeling at ease in a simple way that just makes sense.
More than just a new look, the restaurant’s renovation extends beyond the menu and the space, updating its language without breaking with the past. Because, although it is today a restaurant, the essence of the place is still that of the café loved by so many movie stars and curious travelers.

A menu that speaks every language
Gran Café 1919 has been able to read the present with insight and taste. Its food embraces the world without losing sight of who it is, with local produce setting the pace while embracing global flavours. The menu offers something for every moment of the day—from that first morning coffee to a leisurely dinner—with an open, honest Mediterranean feel and elements from all over the world.
In the morning, the aroma of freshly ground coffee combines with crispy toast, fluffy pancakes and colourful bowls of fruit and seeds. At midday, tapas take over with garlic prawns that taste like eternal summer and sweet potato bravas with a surprising sweet and spicy touch. And in the evening, the atmosphere is elevated with global dishes from ceviche to tataki to truffled cacio e pepe. Effortlessly choose between a creamy rice dish with Iberian pork belly and black truffle or a gourmet burger with a brioche bun and glazed ribs. Here, hunger comes in many forms and all of them have their place.
With more than a hundred labels—with a clear commitment to Mallorcan wine without forgetting Spanish wineries and great international gems—the wine list deserves a chapter of its own. And if cocktails are your thing, this is your place. The classic mojito has an island makeover with Mallorcan herbs, while the Dry Martini and the Negroni remain faithful to their legacy. Meanwhile, the Espresso Martini comes with just the right level of elegance and the Moët & Chandon Garden Spritz adds a festive touch to any evening.

An updated design that invites a sense of calm
Enjoying the new Gran Café 1919 is not restricted to the palate. The space has been remodelled to invite a sense of calm and unhurried enjoyment. Warm wood tones, integrated plants and soft lighting, everything evokes comfort as well as intention, since nothing has been chosen at random. Natural stone and organic fibres give the place a texture that makes you want to touch it, while the plant divisions between tables provide intimacy without breaking with the open atmosphere. It is a restaurant, yes, but also a refuge. A place where, rather than compete with it, the design compliments the cuisine.
Twenty-five years after its opening, Gran Café 1919 is still a place steeped in history. But the most interesting thing is how it has been able to use that history not as an anchor but as a driving force. Its new chapter is not a break with the past but an evolution, a way of saying: “We know where we come from and we are sure where we are going”.
