Can Pizza Ibiza, home to the best pizza in Spain

Lorenzo Vuotorni

Since it opened in Sant Jordi in 2020, Can Pizza has won the hearts (and stomach’s) of residents and visitors from across Ibiza, offering a unique culinary experience that combines Italian tradition with modern, creative touches. Its success is no accident, it is the result of an unwavering commitment to quality and innovation, attributes that earned Can Pizza the prestigious Best Pizza in Spain award in 2023.

Pulp Edition: the best pizza in Spain in 2023

Can Pizza’s recent award has once again shone a spotlight on the pizza restaurant. Pulp Edition, one of its latest creations, was named Best Pizza in Spain in 2023 in the freestyle category. It is the second time the restaurant has won the award, first taking the prize home in 2021. Pulp Edition is made with a unique combination of tomato, sobrasada, octopus, kalamata olives, garlic, fior di latte mozzarella, rosemary, thyme, pepper, oregano, and fennel, and demonstrates Can Pizza’s constant capacity to innovate and surprise. High quality, fresh ingredients and meticulous artisan cooking methods have made Pulp Edition a masterpiece of flavours and textures.
But this isn’t the first prize that Can Pizza has won. In 2021, its Jerry Tomato pizza was also awarded the Best Pizza in Spain prize. This creation is  made with a tomato base, burrata, red and yellow cherry tomatoes in various textures (dried, in confit, macerated), and pickled spring onions. Its freshness and lightness impressed everyone, earning it a special place in the hearts of pizza enthusiasts, and today it is a classic on the Can Pizza menu.

Ten years of innovation and creativity

Can Pizza is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year and has been kneading dough since 2014. It has been a decade marked by singularity and creativity Since it was founded, partners Isaac Aliaga, brothers Max and Stefano Colombo, and Lorenzo “Lolo” Vuotorni have insisted on pizza’s status as an art form. Each pizza cooked in their ovens is made from dough created from a combination of Italian flours that is fermented for 72 hours and then hand-kneaded, in a process that guarantees a firm base and crispy edges.

Ibiza: a haven for pizza enthusiasts

Can Pizza Ibiza in Sant Jordi, has quickly become a compulsory destination for pizza purists. The restaurant offers a first-class culinary experience, and also stands out for having an urban, modern style that produces the perfect atmosphere for enjoying its creations. Can Pizza’s “slow pizza” philosophy, which combines traditional Italian cooking with a modern twist, has been enthusiastically welcomed by Ibizan locals and visitors to the island.

Social commitment: pizza as a force for social good

In addition to its culinary success, Can Pizza is also committed to social causes. In May, during Pizza Week Spain Edition, the pizzeria collaborated with Open Arms and Fundación Diagrama to create the Pizza Universal, and all profit went to support initiatives run by these organisations. This project reflects Can Pizza’s philosophy of viewing pizza as more than just food, believing it can be a tool for uniting people and supporting the community.

Can Pizza’s “Respect the Pizza” motto perfectly encapsulates its dedication to quality and authenticity. Each pizza is made using meticulous artisan methods that aim to honour Italian tradition while exploring new possibilities. From its fresh, locally sourced ingredients to its large rotating ovens that guarantee pizzas are perfectly cooked, every detail has been carefully considered to offer a sublime gourmet experience.

There’s no doubt that, 10 years after opening its first restaurant, Can Pizza is still setting trends and raising the bar in Spain’s pizza industry. Its innovative approach and commitment to excellence mean it will undoubtedly continue to sow the seeds of future successes and win over new fans in Ibiza and across Spain. Can Pizza has become an essential destination on the island, where every mouthful celebrates pizza in all its glory.
