The sound of the sea, the salty aroma mingling with notes of fresh herbs and the rhythms that provide the evening’s soundtrack. At Beso Beach Formentera, summer passes by without the need for clocks. Instead, it lingers amid shared tables, vibrant cocktails and sunsets that seem designed to be never forgotten. Afternoon and early evening drinks have become an unmistakable hallmark of Formentera. And it all starts the same way, with a table on the sand, a steaming carabinero prawn paella and the salty breeze on your skin. Then, without warning, life changes rhythm. A rhythm with the name of Beso Beach.

For more than a decade, the restaurant in the heart of Ses Salines Natural Park has been marking the start of summer and providing it with a soundtrack, aroma and flavour all of its own. Beso Beach Formentera is much more than a restaurant, it is also a seasonal ritual, an event in the calendar that many people mark with devotion year after year. Because everyone knows: ‘there is no summer without a kiss’.

Founded in 2012 by Rafa Viar and Angie López as a family project, Beso Beach began with the aim of bringing Basque-Mediterranean cuisine to the sand. But what started out as a soulful beach bar soon became a phenomenon. The secret to its success lies not only in its food—although many of its dishes certainly deserve the spotlight—but in its ability to create atmosphere, to turn a meal into an experience and after-dinner conversation into a lasting memory. At Beso Beach Formentera, you eat, but you also dance, raise glasses, watch the sea and celebrate summer to the fullest.

The carabinero prawn: the head of the table at Beso Beach

If there is one ingredient that symbolises the menu at Beso Beach Formentera, it is the carabinero prawn. More than just a garnish, it is the central axis of a culinary concept that honours it with respect and creativity.

The carabinero croquettes with caviar combine the tradition of homemade food with a touch of sophistication. The creamy, mouth-watering carabinero cannelloni brings that perfect mix of innovation and culinary nostalgia to the plate. The sea salt carabinero are served pure and simple and full of flavour. And of course, the now iconic carabinero paella with the juice from the prawns’ heads has become one of the most photographed and savoured dishes of the summer in the Balearic Islands.

Aside from carabineros, Beso’s food is founded on great classics: the lobster claws, the Beso-style mussels and the large t-bone steak, reminding us that their Basque roots have always been at the heart of the project.

One of Beso Beach’s greatest successes has been understanding that the most memorable moment of the day does not always happen during the meal but after it. The famous Beso tardeo (drinks between lunch and sunset) have made this corner of Formentera into the epicentre of summer energy.

With carefully crafted cocktails and an atmosphere that shifts between contained euphoria and pure celebration, the music takes over from the kitchen and the restaurant effortlessly transforms into an impromptu dance floor filled with smiles, toasts and embraces in the open air.

Beyond Formentera: a brand with soul

Today, Beso has gone beyond the borders of Formentera. Its spirit has rooted itself in Ibiza, Mallorca, Sitges, Estepona, Barcelona and even the snowy peaks of Baqueira. Far from diluting its essence, the expansion has managed to replicate its success while maintaining a clear common thread based on quality ingredients, attention to detail and an unmistakable atmosphere.

In every location, Beso’s identity remains intact without become a cliché. The brand has its own personality, recognisable by those who know that summer isn’t measured in degrees but in experiences.

Those who return to Beso do so because they feel part of something. Because the team (waiters, chefs, bartenders) are not just part of the décor; they are protagonists in a narrative revolving around shared enjoyment. Beso has created its own universe where flavour, music, hospitality and the sea join hands in perfect harmony.

Summer: served in a glass and on a plate

Beso Beach Formentera’s concept is plain to see: honest cooking, top-quality produce and an atmosphere that invites you to stay, to return and to celebrate without haste. This loyalty to a way of understanding enjoyment that is authentic, radiant and accessible is what has made it an icon.

At Beso, summer glides by effortlessly, to the rhythm of the sea, the clinking of glasses and food that you will never forget. Beso Beach Formentera sets the pace for the season with its flavour, energy and unmistakable way of celebrating.
