Cap Roig and Jumeirah Mallorca open the season with a celebration between sea, mountains and Mediterranean gastronomy

In Puerto de Sóller, where the Serra de Tramuntana rises above the sea, Jumeirah Mallorca opened the season with one of those nights that require little explanation. The setting says it all: the Mediterranean glowing in the distance, the warm early-summer breeze, and a terrace that seems suspended between sky, sea and mountains.

The event took place at Cap Roig, the hotel’s restaurant facing directly the sea, which has steadily become one of the most recognisable gastronomic spaces in Puerto de Sóller. A place where time seems to slow down and where each service unfolds in constant dialogue with its surroundings.

The evening began under the golden light of sunset filtering across the terrace. With glasses of champagne in hand, live music and a carefully curated atmosphere set the tone for a dinner signed by chef Javier López, who on this occasion offered a contemporary interpretation of the Mediterranean, rooted in product, charcoal grilling and natural expression.

Fish and seafood from the surrounding waters, Josper-grilled cooking, and a selection of dishes that speak of the territory without needing to overstate it composed a menu designed to accompany the moment rather than to take centre stage.

There are places where the landscape does not accompany the experience — it defines it. Cap Roig is one of them.

As the light faded, the terrace gradually transformed. From gold to blue, and from blue to a night opening over the sea, where conversation, wine and music seemed to blend into a single gentle rhythm.

Beyond the cuisine, the evening reaffirmed Cap Roig’s role within the Jumeirah Mallorca experience: a restaurant that does not seek to impose itself on the landscape, but to exist in harmony with it. Where gastronomy is understood as a natural extension of its surroundings rather than an isolated element.

The concept is built on three pillars that find their full meaning here: Mediterranean produce, precise technique and a wine selection designed to accompany rather than distract. All set within a stage that, in itself, already explains much of the experience.

The night ended with the feeling of having witnessed not so much a seasonal opening, but a confirmation: that there are places where summer does not begin or end — it simply changes light.
Cap Roig is now officially open for the season and can be booked via the Jumeirah Mallorca website
