Hermanos Meneghello, Innovation and commitment to the Balearic HORECA sector

For the past three decades, Hermanos Meneghello, in Polígono Industrial Monte Cristo, has been a cornerstone for Ibiza’s hotel and restaurant sector. Founded by Piere Paolo and Andrea Meneghello, the company has grown exponentially to establish itself as a leader in the distribution of Italian and Asian products, meat, fish, and now vegan products too. This year, Hermanos Meneghello has taken a further step towards modernisation and expansion, taking its facilities and services to the next level.

Expanded facilities: a big step towards the future

To meet growing demand and the need to improve operating efficiency, Hermanos Meneghello has expanded its facilities to an impressive 2,500 m2. This expansion doubles its logistics capacity and also means it has been able to internally reorganise its spaces to optimise the preparation and distribution of orders. Company director Juan Marí explains:  “We’ve started by doubling our facilities and reorganizing them internally to be more efficient. Now we have a shop, a fish section, and an order preparation zone, and everything has been designed to improve our service.”

Modernisation and digitalisation: the new management system

Another of the biggest changes at Hermanos Meneghello has been the implementation of an advanced digital management system. This new system means better coordination and efficiency in all areas of the company. Juan Marí continues: “You might have 120 employees, but if those 120 employees aren’t coordinated in their work, if they don’t have information to make decisions... It makes things difficult. That’s why one of the most major changes we’ve made is to our technology. This system optimises purchasing, product distribution, and stock management, meaning we can work at the pace we need.”

Employment of qualified staff

Growth and modernisation at Hermanos Meneghello don’t just stretch to its facilities and technology but include its human team too. The company has employed highly qualified staff to ensure its evolution and to maintain the high level of service for which it is renowned. At present, Hermanos Meneghello has around 65-67 employees, and each one performs a crucial role in the company’s daily operations. Juan Marí emphasises that: “We’ve learned to care for the people around us, both our employees and clients, and to empathise with each individual’s circumstances so we can move forwards together.”

Commitment to the local fishing community

As if that weren’t enough, Hermanos Meneghello has strengthened its commitment to Ibiza’s fishing community, and stands out for its social responsibility and sustainability. In addition to having its own boat, Cap Vermell, which it uses to capture fresh, local fish to guarantee the quality and freshness of its products, the company closely collaborates with the fishermen’s guilds of Ibiza and San Antonio, and boats from Santa Eulalia. This ensures that any excess fish is sold, thereby supporting local fishermen. “We have a really great relationship with the fishing community. When they have excess fish, we take it, helping to give the product continuity,” Juan Marí explains.

From Hermanos Meneghello to Meneghello Food

Another recent and significant change saw the company unify all of its product lines under one name: Meneghello Food. Integrating the lines meant simplifying the company structure (which was previously divided into Meneghello and Meneghello Fish) and also better reflects the diversity and quality of its product range. From fish and meat to Asian and vegan products, Meneghello Food shows the company evolving and adapting to the needs of the market. “This change better represents the family of products at Meneghello, from fish, meat, bread, and Asian products to a new line of vegan products,” Juan Marí states.

The future of Ibiza’s HORECA sector

Juan Marí also reflects on the future of Ibiza and Formentera’s HORECA sector, underscoring the need to modernise and to adopt new technology. “The old model of a salesperson knocking on doors to collect orders is practically obsolete. The key is to find technological solutions that let you work at the rhythm you need. There’s lots of work to do,” he adds.

With all these changes and improvements, Hermanos Meneghello has positioned itself as a benchmark for product distribution for Ibiza’s HORECA sector, and also demonstrates its unwavering commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation. “I don’t know where all these changes will take us, but one thing I know is that we’ll go where our clients go,” Juan Marí concludes, reflecting the spirit of growth and readiness to adapt that has always defined Hermanos Meneghello.
