Mysterious, attractive and unique, the seahorse is one of the most interesting sea creatures in the world. There are many curiosities about these animals; for example, they choose a partner for life and when one of the pair dies, the other follows soon afterwards: “Death from a broken heart”. This romantic story captivated the team at The New Algarb hotel, located on the beach of Platja d’en Bossa, and thus inspired their new restaurant space: ‘Seahorse Ibiza’.

Since her appointment as charm manager of Seahorse Ibiza, Teresa Otazu has been at the forefront of the Playasol Group’s greatest gastronomic commitment. She explains the meaning behind her title. “Charm manager is a term we use to refer to the soul of the restaurant,” she says. For practical purposes, Teresa is responsible for the project, she is the face of it, and now that Seahorse Ibiza is a reality, her main mission is to spread its charm and lead the culinary project, so that all the pieces of the puzzle fit together: those pieces include managing the staff, planning special events within the restaurant, the music, ambience and staging, among others. Teresa Otazu is convinced that “Seahorse Ibiza’s proximity to the sea, the beach, the views and the magic of the island of Ibiza itself are all elements that will captivate visitors”.

Seahorse Ibiza is a space with a larger than life personality. Since its initiation, the restaurant has developed as a strategic project, capable of providing real value to Ibiza’s culinary offer. Well aware of the island’s great gastronomic diversity, Seahorse Ibiza offers an amazing price-quality ratio, while persistently focusing on the parts that make the restaurant such a marvellous whole: its décor, music, the ambience and, of course, a culinary offer made from local products and an amazing combination of flavours.

The seahorse is present in every corner of the dining room and integrated into all the restaurant’s accessories. But in fact, almost everything in this space evokes the sea: without a doubt, the restaurant’s main star. For the interior design project, The New Algarb team were able to count on help from Rafael Rodríguez de las Parras, from MED Marbella, a very experienced decorator and interior designer. According to Rafael, “all the lines, fabrics and decorative elements evoke the tone of seahorses, conveying these creatures’ sensuality, delicacy, attractiveness and enormous power.” Seahorse Ibiza is a mysterious space that tastes of sea and life.

The restaurant has designed a Mediterranean menu featuring fresh ingredients, conceived to be enjoyed sitting on the edge of the seashore, in a warm and pleasant atmosphere. The menu design was captained by Jorge Cervera, corporate director of Playasol F&B, with the support of Jose Pons, The New Algarb maître d’hôtel, and its results will undoubtedly surprise all diners. One of Seahorse Ibiza’s star dishes is lobster with free-range eggs, sobrasada and patata payesa (sausage spread and Ibizan potatoes), and from there, the range of attractive options continue, such as Ibizan chicken with foie gras and sweet potato, or more traditional dishes, such as rice or fresh fish. And to accompany these delicious meals, Seahorse Ibiza also offers cocktails that combine mixology with tradition: original cocktails made using ingredients that are in theme with the restaurant’s concept, such as seawater—among many others.

A prolongation of the sea, Seahorse Ibiza is paradise on a sublime island that recreates an unparalleled ambience in captivating marine surroundings. The experience is topped off with carefully chosen music. Seahorse Ibiza is closely associating with the Playasol Ibiza Radio musical project, whose central studios are located in The New Algarb hotel. Through this initiative, the hotel works with several DJ’s from the island to compose ad hoc music. The result is a unique soundtrack which tells a fascinating story, adapted according to the different moments of the day. Following the Balearic musical style that defines the Playasol Group radio station, Seahorse Ibiza seduces its guests with large doses of live music, improvisations and DJ sets accompanied by trumpets, guitars and piano.

The new Platja d’en Bossa beach restaurant complements The New Algarb hotel’s entertainment offer. But this gastronomic space has its own identity. Seahorse Ibiza is not your every-day hotel restaurant. And this is why the restaurant has an independent access, just where the seaside promenade ends, whose entry takes the diner into its charming garden, endowing it with a certain mystery. The New Algarb hotel is undoubtedly one of the chain’s crown jewels. It was completely renovated in 2016 with an ambitious redesign and modernising project, positioning it firmly as a superior category hotel. And The New Algarb is still one of the ‘pretty girls’ in the Playasol Group: it has attentive service, a very carefully designed culinary offer, an excellent location and a minimalist and cosy style. All this, in a four-star hotel that offers its guests excellent value for money. Seahorse Ibiza was made to surprise, excite and create memorable experiences, on the seashore.
