Ladurée Restaurant

Ladurée is a famous French luxury pastry shop created in 1862 by Louis Ernest Ladurée at 16 Rue Royale in Paris. Initially a bakery, it was eventually transformed into a pastry and tearoom as a result of the political and socio-economic changes that began to take place all over Europe at the beginning of the new century. However, it was with Pierre Desfontaines in the mid-twentieth century that Ladurée gained recognition by creating the first double decked macaron filled with a delicious chocolate ganache. The success was immediate and even today the original recipe is used.
