Bairro do Avillez

Bairro do Avillez, created by the chef José Avillez, is situated in the heart of Chiado.

The 1,000 m2 meeting place houses different gastronomic concepts inspired by the finest Portuguese flavours, all combined under one roof. Although bairro means neighbourhood in Portuguese, it is certainly the most atypical neighbourhood in Lisbon.

Bairro do Avillez has a wide range of dishes on offer, inspired by the best Portuguese flavours and represented by different concepts:

Mercearia:
A gourmet delicatessen where you can buy gourmet produce, books, aprons or a fine bottle of wine.

Taberna:
Lisbon’s most unique space is a must-visit for lunch, dinner or a mid-afternoon snack. Try the delicious meat croquettes, a tuna steak sandwich with vinegary vegetables, a pork sandwich with pickled seaweed or a horse mackerel tartar cone—dishes that will make all your senses explode.

Páteo:
A space made for enjoying lunch or dinner in good company. Here, the stars of the show are the fish and the seafood, although you can also find meat on the menu.

Beco:
An exclusive space down a hidden passageway enveloped in mystery, where fine dining meets show business. It opens its doors at sundown and only those with a ticket are allowed in.
