Matheus Porticchio is one of the most renowned private chefs in Ibiza. His long career in the kitchen has included work in his native Perugia at La Taverna, one of the most famous restaurants in the stunning Italian city, in Melbourne and Malta before coming to Ibiza. These experiences have given him extensive knowledge about traditional world cuisines and the most cutting-edge culinary techniques. After exploring the globe, often returning to his home city, Porticchio finally decided to spend a season in Ibiza a few years ago and was won over by the delights of the Pityusic Islands. Today he manages one of the most prosperous and successful private chef businesses on the island.

One of his secrets is, in his words, “making market food in any style”, meaning he uses exclusively local, top quality produce that is completely fresh.Naturally, given his nationality, Porticchio has a mastery of Italian cuisine and pasta, of course. However, he doesn’t like to be pigeon-holed because his work in restaurant kitchens all around the world has given him in-depth knowledge about the food of countries far and wide, including South-East Asia and traditional Central American cooking. Another of his strengths is cooking over an open fire, a process that he loves. However, he confesses with a laugh, customers can be very particular in their demands and he tells us a story about having to make spaghetti with tomato sauce for one customer all week because it was all he wanted.
